Gardening With Aquaponics System
We usually have something to do in our free time. Some like to read books, go shopping, fishing, and some also love to gardening. These days, organic products are more preferred, it because organic products are healthier compared to products that grow conventionally. But usually, only supermarkets sell organic products with a rather high price. Maybe you will never find organic products sold in the traditional market. However, now you can grow your own organic products in your own garden. There are several systems used to grow products organically, one of them is aquaponics.
What is aquaponics? Aquaponics is a combination of aquaculture and hydroponics. Aquaculture is a system of growing fish in a tank. And hydroponics is a system to planted vegetable or plant without soil. So, it basically you growing fish in a tank and you planted vegetable above it. You can connect the water of the fish tank with the water of the hydroponics system. Fish produce many things such as algae, mineral, ammonia and another that need to be filtered. The filter job will be done by the vegetable as it will eat the algae, mineral, ammonia produced by the fish. Fish will grow better as their water will always be clean because it filtered by the vegetable and the vegetable will also grow faster because of the nutrient from algae. So, between fish and vegetable, they will form a mutualism symbiosis.
With this system, you can save your time by a lot because you do not need to feed the fish or fertilize your vegetable, you do not need to keep supplying the vegetable with water as they will absorb the water from the fish tank. The vegetables are healthier because you do not use any kind of chemical products such as chemical fertilizer, pesticide, etc to grow them. By not using any kind of chemical products, you also can save your money more. So, it gives you double advantages as you can produce organic fish and vegetable and you can save your money more.
